Frequently Asked Questions

What is neuro-embodied or integrative therapy?

This work combines tools from neuroscience, somatic psychology, and cognitive therapy to help you regulate your nervous system, shift limiting patterns, and reconnect with your body. It's a practical, non-spiritual approach that supports your whole system — thoughts, emotions, and physical responses — in real time.

How is this different from regular talk therapy?

Traditional talk therapy often focuses on analysing problems cognitively. While insight can be helpful, it doesn’t always change how your body reacts under stress. Our approach includes movement, breath, and body-based tracking to access deeper regulation and real-world resilience. You’ll talk — but you’ll also learn to feel differently.

What kinds of issues does this help with?

This approach is especially supportive for:

  • Stress and burnout

  • Anxiety or chronic worry

  • Emotional overwhelm or shutdown

  • Trauma-related symptoms (freeze, hypervigilance, body disconnection)

  • Difficulty relaxing, resting, or feeling safe

  • Mind-body disconnection (thinking one thing, feeling another)

Is this trauma therapy?

This is a trauma-informed therapeutic process. While it is not a replacement for long-term trauma therapy in complex cases, it uses trauma-sensitive tools drawn from somatic and nervous system work. Many clients find relief and insight even with longstanding trauma patterns.

What happens in a session?

Each 90-minute session follows a structured flow that might include:

  • Psychoeducation (e.g. learning about your nervous system)

  • Guided body-based practices (movement, breath, tracking)

  • Cognitive tools (like reframing or value-based reflection)

  • Integration planning (creating routines you can actually stick to)

You’ll leave each session with a clear takeaway and simple home practice.

Do I need to be good at yoga or meditation?

No. Everything we do is adaptable, accessible, and guided step-by-step. There are no postures to "master" — only ways to gently reconnect with your body, breath, and nervous system at your own pace.

What if I have trouble feeling my body or emotions?

That’s more common than you think — and it’s exactly what this work is designed to support. We move slowly and build awareness without pressure or assumptions. Numbness, dissociation, or "not knowing" are valid data, not obstacles.

Why is the program only 3 sessions?

Three 90-minute sessions provide a complete, focused arc for nervous system change:

  • Session 1: Awareness — understand your patterns

  • Session 2: Regulation — experience real-time tools

  • Session 3: Integration — build habits that last

This structure is intentional. Three sessions are the minimum effective dose for:

  • Experiencing noticeable shifts in stress response

  • Repeating key practices enough to build neural familiarity

  • Creating a sustainable foundation without overwhelm

Change doesn’t come from insight alone — it comes from consistency and embodied repetition. This format gives you both.

Just as importantly, it invites your commitment. This isn’t a drop-in or exploratory chat. You’re showing up for three sessions of applied, grounded work. If you’re ready to invest in your nervous system and see what’s possible, this is for you.

What if I don’t feel better after 3 sessions?

If your primary concern has not measurably improved by the end of Session 3, I offer a 50% refund — no questions asked. This work should create felt, practical change. If it doesn’t, you shouldn’t have to carry the cost.

Is this covered by insurance?

No — this is a private therapeutic coaching model and is not eligible for insurance reimbursement. However, many clients report it being more effective (and faster) than months of traditional therapy.

Can I continue after the 3 sessions?

Yes — many clients choose to continue with monthly integration sessions, therapeutic coaching, or custom intensives. You’ll receive personalised recommendations at the end of your 3-session program.

General Booking and Preparation FAQ

How do I choose which meditation style is right for me?

Consider your current wellness goals and comfort level. If you're new to meditation or dealing with high stress, sound healing offers the gentlest entry point. For those ready to explore deeper personal patterns, shadow-work provides transformative insights. Chakra balancing works beautifully for anyone feeling energetically scattered or emotionally unbalanced.

Feel free to contact me at info@itsmellow.net to discuss which approach aligns best with your wellness journey. I'm happy to provide personalised recommendations based on your specific needs and goals.

Can I book multiple sessions or combine different approaches?

Absolutely! Many clients find that combining different modalities creates a more comprehensive wellness experience. I often recommend starting with sound healing to establish a meditation foundation, then exploring chakra balancing or shadow-work as you deepen your practice. We can create a personalised wellness plan that fits your schedule and budget.
